Enslavement Prevention Alliance West Africa (EPAWA), a nonprofit organization from Ghana, won an Internews regional innovation grant competition designed to inspire creative solutions to communication barriers across Africa. Internews Regional team worked with EPAWA to implement and SMS - mapping system to support a local network of organizations in monitoring and addressing human trafficking in Ghana.
A pilot project in Ghana is using technology shown to benefit journalists in other Internews project ”SMS-based information distribution and crowdsource mapping” and putting them in the hands of a civil society organization to help to victims of human trafficking and domestic violence.
